Qixent was a Chicago-based insurance technology company that helped businesses bring protection into the products and services their customers already bought.
Its work connected insurance product design, technology, and distribution, with a focus on making coverage easier to understand and more useful at the moment of purchase.
This page preserves the story of Qixent and the work of its team.
Qixent developed embedded property and casualty insurance solutions for businesses and digital platforms. Its approach brought together the work behind an insurance offering—from product design and underwriting coordination to licensing, compliance, and policy administration—so partners could incorporate protection into their own customer experience.
The company pursued a practical idea: insurance could help businesses stand behind what they sold, while giving customers greater confidence in an important decision.
Qixent attracted venture investment and developed customer relationships beyond the founding team. In its May 14, 2025 investment announcement, LongJump reported:

Read LongJump's investment announcementOne focus of Qixent's product work was the Sunshine Guarantee, designed to address solar production shortfalls through parametric insurance. The approach used defined performance conditions to trigger payments, with the aim of making financial protection simpler and more predictable for solar customers and providers.
It illustrated the company's broader ambition: connect an understandable customer promise with the insurance structure and data needed to support it.

Co-founder and CEO
Give me fifteen minutes and I’ll get you excited about insurance!
I’m Randel Bennett, a curious and driven professional based in Chicago. I like to understand how things work—and then make them better. My experiences have sharpened how I think about strategy, leadership, and building useful things.
I grew up in the insurance world and later became a Vice President at Swiss Re. In those years I learned how big systems run and why change is hard. I cofounded Qixent to modernize insurance—to make it clearer, smarter, and easier for real people. My work sits at the crossroads of business, technology, and design. I enjoy turning messy problems into clean, working systems.
I like to think my style is organized and calm. I think in steps and frameworks. I use outlines, models, and data to test ideas. I lean on technology as a tool that helps me see patterns and move faster. I care about clarity and quality, whether I’m building an insurance product, planning a dinner for friends, or running a fantasy football simulation.
At my core, I value fairness, teamwork, and steady progress. I believe in hard work, constant learning, and shipping things that help people. Technology, to me, isn’t a gimmick—it’s a tool that lets people think more clearly and act with confidence.
In short, I’m a builder, a learner, and a problem-solver. I love turning complex ideas into simple systems, leading teams to push boundaries, and connecting vision to execution.
Qixent was built through the combined work of its co-founders and a small team, supported by customers, investors, advisers, and industry partners. Anne Frank contributed to its marketing and brand presence. Their collective effort shaped the company's products, relationships, and approach to making insurance more valuable.
